Film summer course

St Andrews Summer School
Session 1: July 1st – July 22nd 2012
Session 2: July 25th – August 15th 2012
Age range: 13 – 18 years old

Students of all abilities have the unique opportunity to discover the fascinating world of film-making and to let their imaginations run free. Expert tutors lead this practical course through interactive seminars, technical training and hands-on experience behind the camera.


Students performing in front of a camera Students performing in front of a camera The course covers script writing, directing, production management, cinematography, editing, location scouting and set design. Students also learn how to use top of the range Sony HD digital cameras and edit using Final Cut Pro. Working in small production crews, students direct, produce and create their own unique films.

Film students create their own short films, which are screened in front of the summer school, and also have the exclusive opportunity to take part in a workshop at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Scotland's premier film academy.
