Travel Arrangements
It is up to each student to make their own travel arrangements to/from Scotland this summer. For those students arriving by plane transportation from Edinburgh International Airport will be available free of charge providing students arrive before the final coach and depart after 9am on closing day. Travel arrangements can be made outside these times at extra cost. In some cases students may have to arrive at Glasgow Airport, if this is the case we can arrange transport at an extra cost however student cannot travel to or from Glasgow Airport as an unaccompanied minor unless it can be arranged in conjunction with the summer school staff.
Arrival:(By plane)
All students will be met at Edinburgh by a member of the summer school staff who will be easily identified and who will help students with their bags and will accompany them to St Andrews. All students must arrive on the following dates:
Session 1- Sunday 5th July
Session 2- Wednesday 29th July
We have three coaches leaving from Edinburgh International Airport to transport our students:
Coach 1 will leave Edinburgh 11.00am to 11:30am
Coach 2 will leave Edinburgh 3:00pm to 3:30pm
Coach 3 will leave Edinburgh 6.00pm to 6.30pm
Please note:Due to the large amount of students arriving at the airport, your child may have to wait for other student’s flights to come in. We will try to make this wait as short and comfortable as we can.
Other forms of transport:
If students arrive by train etc. into Edinburgh city center, pickup will still be available at the airports. Please let us know ahead of time if this is to be arranged. For those arriving by car; a map of how to reach St. Andrews will be sent if required.
Departure:
All students will be escorted to Edinburgh International airport, if requested students can be escorted to train stations if pre-arranged.Students are asked to book flights that depart on the following dates:
Session 1- Sunday 26th July
Session 2- Wednesday 19th August
In the unlikely event a problem occurs or a flight is severely delayed, we will arrange for accommodation in a hotel, at cost to the parent or guardian. We have two coaches leaving for Edinburgh International Airport:
Coach 1 will leave St. Andrews 08:30 to 09:00
Coach 2 will leave St. Andrews 13:00 to 13:30
It will be your responsibility to provide the International Summer School of Scotland with a detailed breakdown of your travel arrangements. Once all travel arrangements have been confirmed please fill in the attached travel information form. (For those booking international flights please also note that if you have had to acquire entry clearance (visa) for your child in order for them to travel to Scotland this summer you will not be able to purchase an open-ended flight ticket.)

Insurance
All students must purchase suitable travel insurance which covers them when abroad. For those students who live within the EEC standard summer holiday insurance packages will suffice, while those who live out with the EEC will also require medical cover.Please make sure to provide the International Summer School of Scotland with proof of this insurance at the earliest possible time (either by post, fax or e-mail).
Visa
It is the responsibility of the applicant to apply for appropriate travel documentation such as Visas when required, we ask all students to carry their Summer School acceptance letter and personal details for identification.
